The Best of Wilderness Safaris’ Botswana Excursions—Part I

Botswana is a land rich with a wide spectrum of year-round game viewing, beauty, and cultural diversity. With over 500 species of bird, a wide variety of mammal and reptile, and a plethora of exotic fish, it’s no wonder Botswana is one of the top places to experience an African safari. If you’re interested in seeing large, powerful animals, such as the Big Five, a Botswana safari vacation is perfect for you.

Wilderness Safaris is one of our favorite suppliers in Botswana, providing fantastic accommodations and high-end private safaris. With their array of safari choices, you’re sure to find one that fits your individual preference. Their magnificent selection includes:

Chitabe Walking Trails

Become one with nature on a Chitabe walking safari in the Okavango Delta. No longer is a safari vehicle the boundary between you and nature. Feel the texture of the ground beneath your feet as your heart races to the site of a leopard hiding in the bush. With our armed and licensed expert guides, there’s no need to worry about a leopard pouncing on you, even though the probability of one wanting you for dinner is very slim!

This adventurous walking safari lasts as long as you’d like. Our guides will tailor each day’s walking time around your personal preference. No matter how long you decide to walk for, fantastic game-viewing and birding is present every day.

The Great Wilderness Journey

Walk in the shoes of the famous African explorers as you travel back in time through the mysterious land of Africa, on this wild safari adventure. The Great Wilderness Journey incorporates a 19th-century luxury-safari style camping and lodging experience, which truly reflects the lifestyle of past African explorers.

The Great Wilderness Journey allows you to gain knowledge about the history of the land, while exploring its vivacious beauty. The fusion of adventure and serenity will send tingles down your spine as you explore a land like no other. Journeying to the raging Victoria Falls to take part in wild escapades, and discovering the abundant wildlife living along the Linyanti and Chobe Rivers, is an experience like no other. With its vibrant colored wetlands, the Okavango Delta is nothing short of breathtaking.

Victoria Falls is the Adrenalin Capital of The World

Picture Niagara Falls twice as tall and twice as wide, and you still won't be prepared for the spectacle of Victoria Falls. The locals refer to Victoria Falls as Mosi-oa-Tunya, meaning the smoke that thunders. The mighty Zambezi River hurls itself off the top of a 300-foot cliff into a gorge below—becoming one of the most fantastic sights of the natural world. Nothing can compare to the sight of the roaring water, the white mist dancing in the air, and a shimmering rainbow of light above the land. The spray from the falls can be seen up to 50 miles away.

Experience an adrenaline rush of a lifetime at Victoria Falls

• Known as one of the world's best areas for white-knuckle activities, such as white-water rafting - you can take a full day or a half day's rafting trip - it is sure to change your life forever. Spectacular rapids and warm water, make it a "Must Do" activity. (The above video is courtesy of our favorite activity company, Shearwater Adventures in Victoria Falls).
• Seek adventure on the highest commercial bungee jump in the world off the bridge that crosses the Zambezi River, connecting Zimbabwe with Zambia. 364 feet of pure adrenalin rush.
Gorge Swing - imagine a giant swing high above the water ... now imagine a 230 feet free fall before you begin swinging. Stop imagining and try it out.
Flying Fox - imagine taking a running jump into thin air over the gorge, soaring horizontally through the air over the raging Zambezi waters below you - yes, keep seeing yourself doing it.
Zip Line or Foofie Slide - You're going to travel at a speed of 50 miles an hour, hurtling 1,395 feet across the gorge, whilst suspended 364 feet above the breathtaking beauty of the Zambezi water below!
• Take the Flight of Angels in a small, four-seat airplane, helicopter or microlight above the falls. Enjoy the rare opportunity to observe the rapids from a bird’s-eye view as you fly through the mist and enchantment of the Falls.

Yes, you can do it!

Hills of Africa Travel wants you to Live the Magic of Africa

Hills of Africa Travel wants you to Live the Magic of Africa, so we pride ourselves in keeping you up to date on travel information.

Please note that with immediate effect ALL persons entering Zambia from Zimbabwe will be required to present themselves to a health officer (near the entrance boom at Victoria Falls Border) where they will be asked to wash their hands in a treated solution (this is flowing from a tap on a container) and then to walk through a treated mat (much the same as with the foot & mouth control when entering Botswana). This entire process will only take a couple of minutes, however if there are large volumes of border crossers, the process may take longer.

We can't wait for you to Live the Magic of Africa. Hills of Africa Travel creates customized trip of a lifetime travel to Africa.
